Thermally Activated Safety Device
Applications
Suitable for all gas types specified in the EN 437 and DVGW G260/2013 standards (Methane, Butane, Propane).
Features
- Passive safety device for gas systems, certified according to DIN 3586.
- When the device reaches a temperature of 100 °C, FIREBAG® automatically and permanently blocks the gas flow to prevent the accumulation of gas in the environment and the risk of explosion.
- Available as a standalone fitting or integrated into shut-off valves, thanks to its compact design.
- Maintenance-free.
- Installed upstream of gas appliances with open flames or in areas prone to fire risk.
- Manufactured by TECO since 1995.
- TECO can develop custom versions upon request.
Selecting a FIREBAG®
The FIREBAG® should be selected based on the following parameters:
- Operating pressure: Max. 5 bar.
- Application: Natural gas or LPG.
- Installed power of individual appliances (in kW) and the corresponding pressure drop.
How the FIREBAG® Works
The FIREBAG® consists of an external steel housing and an internal heat-sensitive mechanism. When the external temperature reaches 100 °C (-5 K), the metal alloy holding the shut-off component in place melts; the compression force of a spring then pushes the component toward the gas flow opening, sealing it completely. In accordance with DIN 3586, FIREBAG® seals the system for 30 minutes at temperatures up to 650 °C.
